ALEBRIJE

Spring of 2020, I took a study abroad course where we were required to learn about Oaxacan art and history. We were expected to take a week long tour of the Mexican city on spring break, but we were unable to go because of Covid-19. In lieu of our trip, we were assigned to produce a work of art inspired by Oaxaca, and this was my piece. I drew inspiration from the Alibrijes from Oaxaca and their patterns. I chose to make one of my cat, Stormi. This was painted with Gouache on canvas.
